As good as it gets!

After yesterdays heavy snow today was a fantastic blue sky day in Val Thorens. This provided the receipt for some awesome skiing. The order of the day was to follow the sunny pistes and stay high. After picking off some of the early sunny slopes in Val Thorens which provided some great un-pisted powder runs we headed over to the lovely Orelle Valley where the skiing on and off piste was simply as good as it gets in the morning sun. We challenged ourselves and skied some of the off piste terrain which was just amazing. We eyed up skiers descending a big black run 'de rosael combe' which looked irresistible. This required a detour back to Val Thorens to catch the Cime Caron cable car to the start point but it was well worth it, providing a challenging but lovely powdery decent back into the Orelle Valley, yey!

After a nice picnic at the bottom of  'de rosael combe' in the baking sun we heading back over to Val Thorens and headed up to the Glacier De Thorens with its magnificent blue ice protruding out of the glacier piste. Later the skies hazed over a bit as we skied the rest of Val Thorens, but this was indeed the best days skiing of the week.

Roy, blue skies a plenty!
Yey, lovely views!
