Sunshine, Wind and Snow!

Monday 3rd February

We've not been able to update for the last few days due to internet problems, which we've managed to sort now. It's been a real mixed bag of weather since Sunday. Monday provided the best day so far with a lovely Alpine blue sky day which we took full advantage of and did a big tour of the the 3 Valleys spending most of the day over in Courchevel before skiing back to Val Thorens via Meribel and Les Menuires.

Tuesday 4th February

Tuesday was more hazy but still clear. We spend most of the day skiing around Val Thorens then headed over to ski Mont Vallon at the head of the Meribel valley before heading back over to Val Thorens.

Wednesday 5th February

Today the Scottish weather returned with a vengeance and high winds. The wind was a major factor today and many of the lifts were late opening. It was a case of finding sheltered pistes so we skied over to the Meribel Valley where it was much calmer. In fact the winds were relatively light, so we headed up Mont Vallon again to ski the other red run before picking off most of the runs on the right side of the Valley and then skiing down towards St Martin De Belleville for lunch. After lunch the weather dramatically changed again and we were forced back over into the Meribel Valley. We skied some more reds before the weather really came in and it started to snow. This told us it was time to head back to Val Thorens so we took the most direct lift route back. The snow became progressively heavier and by the time we reached the col back towards Val Thorens it was snowing very heavily providing a challenging decent to the village. Real character building stuff!!

 Lovely weather.
 Eee, real Scottish weather :)
