SAIS Avalanche Forecast

new-sais-reportRun by those hardy guys who go out every day to check out the avalanche risk in all the major climbing areas, this is an excellent source of information to us all. Not only giving avalanche risk but also provides comments on the climbing conditions and ice build-up in all the major climbing areas. Always come here before you go out there.

Service Resumes on 17th December 2009.

There is a new format Avalanche Report this year. Check this out here and get yourself familiar with it before heading out.

Talisman Mountain Diary Blog

Since 1998 seasoned Mountain Instructor Ron Walker has been providing reliable and popular winter climbing conditions reports and photos. Formally available at Winternet-Scotland Ron now post his reports on the Talisman Mountain Diary Blog which also includes regular video footage.

Alan Kimber's Winter Conditions Reports

Alan Kimber provides one of the best winter conditions reports available. His climbing guides are out on a regular basis through the season in the Lochaber area and other locations to the West. For up to date reports on venues like Ben Nevis and Aonach Mor these reports are excellent.

Mike Pescod's Winter Conditions Reports

Mike runs a similar service from Abacus Mountaineering providing up to date reports on The Ben, Aonach Mor and beyond. Check his reports for the very latest conditions in these areas.

Alpha Mountaineering Conditions Page

Alpha Mountaineering are out climbing on a regualar basis and provide up to date reports of local conditions.

Alan Halewood's Blog

Alan Halewood is a Mountaineering Instructor working for The Ice Factor climbing centre, himself and other providers. This is his blog.

A great source of information for both climbing and skiing the 'General Situation', providing one of the best local knowledge reports for current and forecast conditions in areas around Scotland.

Winterhighland UK Ice Climbing Server

This excellent service allows climbers to share useful information on winter climbing conditions by posting reports of your routes together with photos.

ClimbNow - Winter Climbing Conditions Reports

Paul Warnock and Euan Whittaker are experienced Mountain Instructors based in central Scotland. Their website ClimbNow provides regular winter climbing conditions reports throughout the season.
